The LM1 Silberstein is a ‘Performance Art’ piece created by Alain Silberstein, the famous French designer known for his use of primary colours (red, blue and yellow), geometric shapes, and sophisticated juxtaposition of materials. You’ll find all that in the LM1 Silberstein, on the hands and dial markers, but also on the power reserve indicator.
Alain has made the LM1 subdials concave because to him, they attract the "eternal time" of the universe into the movement, where it is transformed and displayed as two independent time zones. Silberstein felt that nothing should block that "eternal time" from reaching the time indications, which is why the original LM1 balance bridge has been replaced with a transparent bridge in sapphire crystal.
Finally, Silberstein’s motto is engraved on the side of the case: “Le vrai bonheur est d’avoir sa passion pour métier” (“True happiness is making a profession of your passion”).
The LM1 Silberstein is based on the LM1, which initiated our historically-inspired Legacy Machines. The movement was created with two horological stars: Kari Voutilainen and Jean-François Mojon. It features a unique flying balance wheel, fully independent dual time zones, and a very unconventional vertical power reserve indicator.
